The final neighborhood onboard the brand-new Icon of the Seas, the suite neighborhood will span across decks 16 to 19. In this neighborhood, you will find real greenery with thousands of real plants, along with live music and dining spots. A quieter, more serene place can be found in the infinity pool, named Cove Pool, which features in-water loungers. Icon of the Seas will feature a brand-new neighborhood that Royal Caribbean claims will be the best pool deck at sea, named the Royal Bay Pool. Once you’ve finished the water slides, you can grab a bite to eat or a drink at Desserted - a brand-new restaurant for Royal Caribbean serving over-the-top milkshakes (boozy ones too!).
Family rooms redefined
Most food/beverage supplies are sourced from the homeport, the rest are locally sourced (in call ports). The stored supplies are enough for 3 consecutive voyages (21 days). RCI's ICON ships have a 4-deck Crew Neighborhood (housing 2350 people) featuring redesigned (new/patented) crew cabins with an L-shaped bed layout. Called "Admiral Awesome", the professional employee hosts different family-themed events.
Royal Promenade
Royal Caribbean has 28 different Icon of the Seas cruise ship cabins you can choose from, with an eye to provide the most spacious rooms designed by the cruise line. There's a new pool-themed version of Royal Caribbean's carousel and a bar with "mommy and me" matching mocktails for kids and cocktails for grownups. Royal Caribbean wanted to go beyond just having water slides, so Icon will introduce the first water park at sea.
New stateroom options

The Royal Promenade is a Royal Caribbean staple found on all Voyager-, Freedom- and Oasis-class ships. Icon of the Seas will offer a two-deck version of this indoor mall-like space with multiple shopping, dining and drinking establishments. Where it succeeds is with its clever approach to its eight neighborhoods, each distinct in its offerings but seamlessly transitioning to the next. Wows abound, from the spectacular six-slide waterpark to the gravity-defying AquaTheater and fun, kid-friendly touches (like a full-time resident golden retriever and slides that move you from one deck to the next). If you're staying in a Sky or Star suite, you can also access the Suite Neighborhood for additional perks and activities included with your cruise suite.

Stays with views for days
As you walk onto the ship, you'll see a giant multi-deck high glass wall that will provide natural light and a way to still see the beautiful ocean that surrounds the ship. The suite sun deck concept is bigger than ever with a multistory area known as The Grove, with lounge space, pool, hot tub, and a complimentary Mediterranean restaurant. As on Oasis-class ships, cabins with inward-facing windows and balconies will overlook Icon's Central Park. Sky Junior Suites have the same layout as regular Junior Suites but are high up on the ship's top decks.
Since it will be located in Central Park, guests will be able to eat their favorite sushi al fresco for the first time. Plus, with six Teppanyaki tables, more people will be able to enjoy the fun dining experience than ever before. No cruise is complete without tons of dining options, and Icon of the Seas does not disappoint. Onboard, there will be over 40 different ways to eat, drink, and be entertained. Royal Caribbean announced that Icon of the Seas will feature a combination of new and returning eateries onboard. The new suite neighborhood will be the largest restricted-access area for suite guests, which is very similar to Norwegian’s The Haven.
On the outdoor decks, along with open play, there were volleyball competitions, basketball free-throw challenges, pickleball, table tennis, and baggo, among other sports events. Organized scavenger hunts, riddle challenges, and puzzles also made the list of regular activities throughout the week. Of course, there’s also the seaside carousel and an arcade found in the Surfside neighborhood. The Attic, newly relocated to the second floor of the Royal Promenade, has comedy shows on most nights of the cruise. Cruisers must arrive early to get a seat and sing along with Tim and Sarah during one of their several sets throughout the cruise.
More Royal Caribbean
This vessel does share several layout features found on the previous record-breaking class of ship from Royal Caribbean. She improves upon several of the features we love about cruising with Royal Caribbean and adds many new amenities and attractions as well, putting her in a league of her own. Icon's Royal Promenade has length 110 m/362 ft, and unlike RCI's previous Royal Promenade design has floor-to-ceiling windows providing unobstructed ocean views.
The adult-only suspended infinity pool
If you are a night owl, you will have a better shot at getting a seat during the 11 pm or midnight shows. But, the wait is worth it, as both performers kept the crowd crooning all night long. Margaritas and mezcals are on the menu at Cantina Fresca on Chill Island, conveniently found near El Loco Fresh.
Guests can ride any and all of the slides as many times as they like for free. From the dining to the entertainment and service, along with the pool deck and sports deck amenities, Icon of the Seas delivered a distinctly Royal Caribbean experience. Icon of the Seas has more upscale décor, as well as more open space and new neighborhoods. The enhanced neighborhood concept, with these areas designed to be “inhabitable all day”, really eases any pain-points that you might expect on a cruise ship with so many passengers. While other cruise lines have decks with featured amenities or “zones”, Royal Caribbean was the first to introduce completely themed neighborhoods. The 3-deck Suite Neighborhood houses all the top-tier staterooms.
Located at the top of the vessel, the area is described by Royal Caribbean as a transformational place unlike any other. Turn up bold adventures at some of the most beautiful destinations in the Western Caribbean. Marvel at lush tropical jungles in Roatán, trek through Mayan ruins in Cozumel – and brave the tallest waterslide in North America at our game-changing private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay.
During the drydocking in Cadiz Spain (Dec 5-23, 2023), the Central Park received 10,000+ live plants. The drydocking was also for final adjustments and technical works, including on the boxcoolers (heat exchangers) and sea chests (recesses in the hull), as well as repairs to the propulsion system (an ABB Azipod). In late-December 2021, to Meyer Turku were towed/barged by 4x tugboats the first pre-assembled in Poland (at Gdansk Shipyard) hull blocks, with weights tons. Their assembly/the ship's physical construction officially started with the keel-laying ceremony held on April 5, 2022.
Each of the zones will offer an array of experiences, live entertainment, and ways to grab a bite and a drink, the company added. Set to open a new class of ships in the company’s fleet, the vessel will have a very a unique design, with a full set of new features and state-of-the-art green technology. The Royal Promenade measures 362 feet long and will feature ocean views for the first time.
